Review: Discount Pest Control

Sometimes people have wild ideas for haunts that exceed the boundaries of what can actually be created within a home setting. These outlandish and fantastic ideas can be difficult to bring to life, but sometimes they are successfully actualized to the astonishment and awe of haunt visitors. A perfect example of this accomplishment is Burbank’s Discount Pest Control - one of the most fun and surreal haunt displays of the season.

This haunt is designed by Eric Buss - a magician whom we have seen entertain people with his wild and high-energy performances that incorporate non-stop magic tricks with live music looping. Discount Pest Control captures Eric’s personality perfectly. He has created a display that shows the perilous consequences of what happens when you use the cheapest pest control in town to get rid of an infestation.

This haunt display has everything that would be an entomophobiac’s worst nightmare: flying murder hornets, disgustingly huge bugs, and a gigantic worm spinning out of the guts of an exterminator. These grotesque and funny characters are all behind an "electric fence" that displays the pest control company's sign with a comedic tagline: “We’re not the best but we’re the cheapest!”. To top things off there is even a giant spider above who is feasting on human remains. Eric Buss’s Discount Pest Control is truly one of the most imaginative and entertaining Halloween displays we have seen all season.
