review: hull house

We absolutely love Hull House. This Buena Park haunt, created from scratch by Bill Galvin, is a treasure within the LA haunt community. The Hull House yard display is centered around a burning home that is surrounded by glowing graves, skeletons, and jack-o’-lanterns. Ominous emerald and cobalt hues illuminate the scenery as rolling fog seeps through the graveyard. The superb craftsmanship and authentic presentation of Hull House is what makes this haunt particularly special and a must-see on any haunter’s list.

While observing Hull House you can’t help but feel transported into the final scene of a classic horror film. The home is halfway burned down with the second floor revealing its charred and smoking frame (achieved through a great lighting and smoke machine trick). The bottom floor’s windows flicker as the flames inside work to completely engulf what is left of the creepy, shack-like structure. The quiet of the night is permeated with the sounds of the crackling fire interlaced with the distant hoots of an owl and other ambient sounds.

We are very sad that Hull House is packing up after this season and permanently moving out of state. This will no doubt be a blow to the local haunt community. Therefore, this is your last chance to visit this absolutely stunning home haunt. Hull House is a macabre masterpiece and a mandatory visit on your haunt travels.
