REVIEW: Midsummer Scream Presents Awaken the Spirits

Under usual circumstances Halloween season would officially kick off with the Midsummer Scream convention at the Long Beach Convention Center. However, since we are still living in an unstable pandemic environment, the Midsummer Scream team decided to create a smaller convention at the Pasadena Convention Center appropriately entitled “Awaken the Spirits”.

While this convention was missing the Midsummer Scream core attraction of multiple haunts/mazes, aka “The Hall of Shadows”, we still greatly enjoyed our experience and were delighted to see new and familiar faces. Victoria Manor Haunted House (aka Jordan’s High Desert Haunt) was selling creepy wares and Fear Farm, L.A. Haunted Hayride, and Horrorworld were hosting haunt preview booths. We loved the panels, the amazing cosplayers (especially our favorite @creepycutejaylah who was lurking around the @arts_sideshow display), and the small pop-up preview maze of Pandora’s Box (Halloween Horror Nights).

As usual Midsummer Scream did a masterful job at curating the official start to the Halloween season. We look forward to seeing all of our fellow haunters in the coming months - with an ending celebration at Midsummer Scream's winter convention, “Season’s Screamings”, in December.
